The service provider has stated that the instructions given not to block the internet service cannot be followed.
According to the service provider, the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTAA) has instructed the consumers not to disrupt the internet service if they are unable to pay the tariff for the period. Therefore, The NEA had issued a notice on Friday saying that the internet service would not be disrupted even if the tariff was not paid during the lockdown period.
Writing in response to the NEA’s notice, the Internet Service Providers Association (ISPAN) Nepal has stated that such an arrangement can be made only in the case of the elderly and disabled customers. Chairman of ISPAN Nepal Bhoj Raj Bhatta has said that the service cannot be provided to all the customers without paying the tariff for the period.
